Postdoctoral

Dr. Griesemer supervises psychology students who have completed their doctoral training and are desiring a supervisor for their post-doctoral year. Post-docs can contract with Dr. Griesemer to offer services at Psychology Center of Austin, PLLC. Consider the following when deciding if a post-doc with PCOA is a good fit for you.
Supervision - students meet for individual supervision weekly. Supervisees are expected to video-tape 1-2 sessions a month to review in supervision. Supervision is conducted from a psychodynamic and modern-psychoanalytic perspective. A strong emphasis will be placed on developing insight into one's own process and transference and countertransference processes in the therapeutic setting. Students will be strongly encouraged to engage in their own therapy work. Students must be willing to be vulnerable and engage actively in the process of supervision. Client work - students must be trained in child and adolescent psychology and have been supervised in child work. They do not need to have adult experience, but will be required to work with adults during their post-doc year. In addition to individual therapy, students must also complete at least one collaborative assessment during the course of the year. Training in assessment is required; students will be considered even if they do not have collaborative assessment experience. Preference is given to candidates with Rorschach experience. The secondary focus of this post-doc is developing business skills so that the post-doc can successfully launch a private practice. ONLY students desiring to set up a private practice in Austin, TX will be considered for this position. To apply, please submit the following:
